You can be assured – I will lift it up without delay to our Lord and Savior
Today our scripture focus is from the book of Psalms Chapter 85 verse 2 —
“I will listen to what God the Lord says;
he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants…”
Isn’t it great that God our Lord PROMISES peace to his faithful servants!
I say YES it is and I am thankful!
Personally, I surely strive and want to be a faithful servant of God and receive peace.
And I wondered what it actually means to be a “servant” verses to “serve” in the church for
example as an usher or in any capacity.
Is there a difference?
In the past few days of prayer and study – I’ve come to understand – Yes – there is a difference.
To Serve seems to be something religious where we may serve but not necessarily by choice but rather by compulsion. Note: when we choose to serve – we are still in control.
To be a Servant on the other hand means we choose to have a relationship with God and do at all times what is best for others. We choose to see people through the eyes of Jesus. Note: we give up the right to be in control – God is in control.
Further, I see myself as being a servant who has chosen to have a relationship with God. Also, I understand better now that being a SERVANT with a relationship with God – often involves doing different things at different times – such as giving of my time, talent and/or treasure to help another.
We must have Faith and Trust in God to invest in his Kingdom and let go of something we treasure or want to buy for ourselves to meet the need of someone else.
I see better too that our tithes and offerings given to our churches are important investments in God’s Kingdom – because we are God’s hands and feet – we are “the church” and it is good practice to put others before ourselves and let go of our treasure to help.
God will provide – He is able.
I’ve decided to let go and let God!
I stand on His Word and Promises.
I point you to Luke 6:38 —
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Will you bow your head and pray with me —
Father, thank you for YOU – you are awesome and we give you all praise, honor and glory. You are everything to us. We love you and need you. Please help us to listen closely for your still small voice guiding us – so we (“the church” – your hands and feet) may be obedient and do your will – quickly.
In Jesus Name we pray.
