On My Knees…

Welcome Friend!

Thank you for visiting today.

It may be your first visit or a return visit – but nonetheless – I’m certain it is not a coincidence —

And I am always ever prayerful that the words here will encourage and inspire you as you continue on the path seeking JESUS – your Friend and mine.

My brother and sister – the title of today’s writing and all the words that follow are partially inspired by a wonderful song I heard this week called  “On My Knees” by Nicole Mullen.

It is a BEAUTIFUL “testimony” via song that attests to the fact of how being – on her knees in prayer – she’s learned to survive on this earth — in times of laughter or in pain.

Personally, getting on my knees to talk with God is the very first thing I do each day! Nothing compares to being in His presence and as I move forward in my day – I know (as Nicole sings) if there’s a need to talk with God (and there always is – if only to say “I love you Lord!) – I simply close my eyes – no matter where I am – and pray.

Take a moment and listen to this song soon – it will touch your heart.

Friend, God’s Word speaks often of His children bowing down or being on their knees in prayer and/or worship.  It is a posture many believe (self included) we should take before our Lord JESUS – and with reverence and humility.

That said —

Our Scripture focus begins today in the book of Philippians Chapter 2 verses 10-11:

“…every knee should bow…and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Then, the next three are from the book of Psalm —

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” (Psalm 95.6)

“The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.” (Psalm 25:9)

“The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people.” (Psalm 68:35)

All confirm for me that God loves us, hears us and wants to guide and teach us.

Let us WILLINGLY and TRUSTINGLY stand on His Word.

He will do what He says He will do.

Believe it!

I do!

Please bow your head and pray with me —

Father, we know the Bible is Your Word – intended to guide and teach us.  Thank You for putting it in our hands.  Please put in us the desire to diligently study it with reverence and humility as we willingly seek after You in prayer – every day – on our knees.

In Jesus’ name we pray and believe.

The Past is Past…

Welcome Friend!

Thank you for visiting today.

It is no coincidence —

And I am ever prayerful that the words here will encourage and inspire you on your journey seeking JESUS CHRIST our Lord and Savior.

First up — I must share with you how personally encouraged and inspired I am with the words written here today.  The Lord is good.  I love Him with all my heart.   He helps me with everything – even things that I am not aware of His help.  I thank Him and will forever PRAISE Him.

Our Scripture focus on this day is tri-fold starting first in the book of Psalm – Chapter 46 verse 10—

“Be still and know that I am God.”

(To this I say YES LORD)

Next on to the book of Isaiah – Chapter 43 verse 18,19—

“Do not remember the former things,
do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland. “

(Thank You JESUS!)

Then last on to the book of Jeremiah – Chapter 29 verse 11—

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

(All Glory and Honor to You God!!!)

Friend, recently I read about why it is good to fix our minds on moving forward – and being a  “tomorrow thinker.”

Some say our LORD JESUS was a tomorrow thinker because of how He seemed to focus more on discussing the future when speaking to others and not their past.

One example of this is —

When He met the woman at the well, He barely mentioned that she had been married five times.  He pointed to her future.  He said that He would give her water; and she would never thirst again.

Another wonderful example is —

When Jesus was in Jerusalem and went to the pool called Bethesda where a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”  The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”  Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.”

Last example for today is—

The woman caught in the act of adultery.  Jesus never discussed her sin.  He simply said unto her, “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”

My friend – given these examples and many others in Scripture –

I do believe Jesus concentrated on the future.

So, let us stop taking journeys into yesterday.

Let us keep MOVING FORWARD in Faith –

LISTENING closely for God’s still small voice to hear about the future He has and wants for us His children.

Please bow your head and pray with me —

Father, we thank you for letting us start over – for our new beginning.  Thank you for wiping our hearts clean,  and pointing us to our future success.  We trust you Lord.  We will with your help move forward and not dwell on what was, but instead on what is to come.

In Jesus’ name we pray and believe.

Stretching Our Faith…

Welcome Friend and Thanks for stopping by!

I hope the words here encourage and inspire you as you continue on your journey

seeking Jesus Christ – your friend and mine.

I pray ALL  is well with you

I invite you right now to pause with me for a moment –

close your eyes –

breathe deep –

focus your thoughts on God and His love.

Without fail – my heart is always cheered and lifted when I do this and think these thoughts.  Surely yours is too and you’ll willingly join me in thanking God and giving Him praise!

Today – our Scripture Focus is not from the book of Psalm as it normally is but instead from Romans – chapter 10 verse 17—

“So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”

Friend – no delays – I will get right to it –

is there something missing in your life that you want to experience/achieve?  Something that would require you to make a CHANGE and do something different but you are hesitating?

Well if your answer is yes – please know that EVERYTHING is difficult at first but we must have FAITH, PRAY and forge ahead despite our fear of failing!

Know that many in this life will fail because they are unwilling to make changes.  They refuse to change jobs, towns, friendships, etc.  They choose to  stay in their comfort zones.

On the other hand, I believe many others will and do succeed because of their FAITH and they are willing to go through a little discomfort to experience/achieve a new level in life.

Have you noticed that when you want something you have never had, you often have to do something you have never done?

I have and I stand on God’s Word that —

“I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me”

(Philippians 4:12-14)

God’s Word is full of instances where He gave clear instructions to people – always giving them something to do – knowing full well that it stretched their FAITH – and their obedience was the ONLY proof of their faith in Him.

People such as —

Abraham(Abram) in Genesis 12:1,2

“Now the Lord has said…Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee…”

Peter in Matthew 14:29 wanted to walk on water.  Jesus gave him a simple instruction to do something he had never done before and Jesus said—

How about His instructions to the Israelites (Joshua 6) —

“March around the walls of Jericho seven days in a row, and then seven times on Sunday.”

Elijah in 1 Kings 17

stretched the faith of the widow, who was down to her last meal but gave out the little she had to someone she did not even know and believed the word of God’s prophet for her future provision in the midst of famine.  She saw the miracle come to pass.

And – we know Ruth(Book of Ruth) left her home country of Moab to be with Naomi and she met Boaz, who changed her life forever.

Our God is an AWESOME God!!!

Let us bow our heads together in prayer —

Father, we need thee and we love you.  Please help us – your children- to move out of our comfort zones and willingly embrace you stretching our faith as we do something we have never done before to achieve something we have never had.

In Jesus’ name.
